Strawberries, Mommy Day and Swimming

Last week I took the kids to the strawberry fields to do some pickin'. U-pick means you pay twice as much for strawberries that have been selected by a 2 and 5 year-old. At least it smelled really yummy and the kids got their feet dirty.

Then we went to the park...

Lucas made me this lovely hat for a "Mother's Day Garden Breakfast" at his school.

Mia's first swim. She didn't hate it!

Fishing and other dangerous activities

Yesterday we picked up Lucas from school and went to the beach to eat our lunch. We brought along his fishing pole. Our neighbor happen to also be down there fishing.

As we were eating our PB&J's we spotted a baby seal across the way sunning himself.

He eventually made his way back to the water and took a swim...

...directly over to our neighbor. Lucas immediately headed down to investigate.
"Be careful!" was shouted into the wind.
Our neighbor, Mr. Tom, told Lucas to go get some of his fish bate to feed him. At this point I pondered whether I should continue taking pictures or leap down off the rocks and pull my boy from the jaws of the deranged seal. I guess it's pretty obvious what I decided. I was fairly certain Lucas would chicken out.

Um, that is awful close.

Awful, awful close.

The jaws are open! Drop the fish and run!

Good boy. Another ER visit postponed.

Playing catch up again!

Pictures from the last few weeks.
Sometime back we had friends over to eat lunch and play. Miss Ellie "Sissy" Peel
Blowing bubbles!

Lots of bubbles!

We have a thumb sucker! I think.

Not last weekend but the weekend before was the Sunday School Treat. Jill and Lucas both learned "I am" verses. Jill's sign is the "I" but she didn't quite hold it as I had planned. This was Jill's first time saying verses. She did a great job saying her first verse and then beat it off the stage. I guess she didn't want to mess with success and go for both of them.
Jill learned:
I am the door, by me if any man enter in he shall be saved. John 10:9
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. John 10:11

Lucas learned:
I am the way the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. John 8:12
I am the light of the world. He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life. John 14:6
I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me and I in him the same bringth forth much fruit. John 15:5

Lucas recently got a fishing pole so lately it's been all about fishing. Here he is practicing casting into the pool. Since he is not allowed into the pool area without an adult present he had to stand on the picnic table.

The other day I was off doing something and the kids decided to make me a salad. When I came back to the kitchen I was so pleased with them! How thoughtful of them. Is this the type of thing I'll miss in a few years?
