For Christmas vacation this year we loaded up the car and made the drive to Idaho. Day 1 took us as far as our friends' house near Salt Lake City. Not only did we enjoy reuniting with old friends but Lucas and Daddy thoroughly enjoyed their HUGE skateboarding bowl in their garage. I'm pretty sure we will not be able to drive through again without Lucas begging us to stop. Before we continued on our way, Nathan even got some snowboarding in at Sundance.
We had such a fun time visiting Grandpa and Grandma's, seeing friends and cousins. The snow provided lots of fun for the kids. Nathan and I also took advantage of it and the Grandparents and went to Grand Targhee for a day on the slopes. What a treat! On our last day there we got Lucas and Jill skiing along with E. and T. And even though it was bitterly cold the kids did great. After the skiing we went to Lava Hot Springs to sit in 104+ degree water. Basically, your nice and toasty from the neck down and have ice forming from the neck up. As we left, the thermometer in the car read -12. Yes, you may wonder at the wisdom of our decision.
Although there was really no doubt the Mia was getting along just fine with Grandpa and Grandma, on the return trip we realized how strong the attachment. Off and on for well over an hour Mia would start crying, "Bumpa's house, Bumpa's house." I would say, "We get to go back to Mia's house." "No! Bumpa's house, Bumpa's house." Ahh, it was enough to break your heart.

Don't think I have to say how these pictures made me feel : ) SO glad you got to go. SO wish we were there with you. Those pictures of Mia as the fat little eskimo are to die for. Please, please take a little nibble out of her cheeks for me : ) Also, Jilly looks extraordinarily grown up in some of those pics--quite the little lady! Thanks for posting the pictures, they were lots of fun to look at.
Great post and commentary, Megan! My lucky brother has the best in grandchildren...ALL of them are so cute/handsome/pretty.....so glad I am related! Just finished looking at Brooke's post. Now my day has the perfect start! So sorry I missed out on a visit........
Brings back great memories of sledding in AF. We liked the hill above the fourth grade wing at Hillcrest Elementary. You guys are gigantic troopers for taking the dog; the photos of him are great!
I enjoy seeing kids/parents/grandparents. Priceless memories. Thanks for sharing!
What a fun vacation in Idaho...so sorry we couldn't meet up there. Some day! Love the pics of little ones all bundled up with just their little rosy cheeks showing through. Miss you!
